About FileAI

FileAI is a small, independent product. I design it, write the code and answer the support email myself, from Australia.
Why FileAI exists
Contracts, leases and policies are long, and the part that matters is often one sentence on page six. Most of us skim, sign and hope for the best.
AI chat tools will happily read a document for you, but it's hard to tell when they've got it wrong. I wanted something that answers in plain English and then shows you where in your own document the answer came from, so you can check it in seconds.
That's the whole idea behind FileAI: answers you can check.
What FileAI does, and what it doesn't
It does
- Answer questions about PDFs, Word and PowerPoint files and other text documents, in plain English.
- Link every answer to the passage it came from, highlighted on the page in PDFs.
- Tell you when your document doesn't answer the question.
- For Australian tenders, turn the tender documents into one checked spreadsheet of requirements and deadlines.
It doesn't
- Give legal, financial or procurement advice. It helps you read; the decision is yours.
- Read scanned PDFs or photos of pages yet.
- Use your files to train AI. Ever.
- Share workspaces. Each account belongs to one person.
Where it runs
FileAI is hosted on Fly.io, with the app running in Sydney. Your files are stored privately in Tigris object storage. To answer questions, the text of your document is processed by OpenAI's API in the United States, which doesn't use it to train models. Where your files go lists every provider and what each one sees.
How it's paid for
Subscriptions and one-off tender packs. There's no advertising, and your data is never sold.
